Hupulla Huputettu

I worked as a sound designer for a contemporary dance piece for the whole family. Hupulla Huputettu (Hooded with a Hood in english) deals with the theme of identifying and naming. It premiered in November 2013 at Hällä-stage in Tampere Finland. The choreography was done by Outi Yli-Viikari

 I did live mixing for the sound during the performance. Head sets and Ableton Live software was used to manipulate the sound made by the dancers in various ways. One of the ideas was to metamorphose one sound into another. How to transform a high pitched sound made by a dancer into a sound of a whale? And after that transform it into a sound of fireworks? Hupulla Huputettu presented a lot of challenges but the outcome was great!

Tampereen särkänniemi OY: Koiramäki

We made three soundscapes for Särkäniemi's new theme park called Koiramäki. The theme park is based on Mauri Kunnas' popular Koiramäki children books. Doghill is the proper English name. The soundscapes were 20-30 minutes long. Our team consisted two other people from our school Tampere university of applied sciences. We also designed exterior sound effects for few spots in Koiramäki.

Vanhan kirjallisuuden päivät

Spent a summer weekend working here: www.vanhankirjallisuudenpaivat.com/. Lots of old books and new people. Found myself a copy of Herman Hesse's Riikinkukkokehrääjä (No idea what it is in english). The festival was located in Sastamala. 

Did sound for a children's orchestra called Ammuu.
It's easy mixing great sound when you have people who know how to play on stage.
The venue was also nice with good PA and a trusty Yamaha DM 1000 digital mixer.
"No digital mixer is alike" goes the old sound engineer saying.

Next year hopefully again.

Dance Theatre MD: Sky walker trailer and documentation DVD

A trailer for Dance Theater MD's "Sky walker eli Taivaallakävelijä" dance piece (Choreography by Liisa Pentti). I also filmed the piece and edited a documentation DVD of it. The filming was done with three cameras of which two were operated and one was fixed.

A live video of from our studio by my band. Engineering, mixing and video editing by Jaakon Paja, filmed by trashd.net. A really nice and easy project. This was my first time working with a system camera (I believed it was Canon D50). Sounds were recorded with few microphones. This is not a playback, real playing recorded real time. Enjoy:
